 MAKING CHANGE

 POSSIBLE

We're an alliance of advocates aligned towards one goal—

influencing positive legislative outcomes for Californians with disabilities

Created in 2012, the Alliance is a coalition of community based service organizations that serve Californians with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) through the state entitlement known as the Lanterman Act. The member organizations serve children, youth, and adults with IDD and their families in a host of services including residential and living option supports like independent or supportive living, day services, transportation, employment, personal supports like respite, and other areas of service that meet individual support needs.

The Alliance incorporated as a 501(c)(4) nonprofit in 2017.

OUR MISSION

The purpose of the Alliance is to influence legislative and administrative decision-making that impacts adults and children with IDD. The members share a commitment to protecting, upholding, and strengthening the foundational elements of the system that serves Californians with IDD, including:

The Alliance

• The finding by the State Supreme Court in 1985 that individuals with
IDD are entitled by law to the services included in their Individual Program Plans (IPP)

• The process defined in the California Welfare and Institutions Code that
establishes a person-centered planning process in which the individual/family
chooses the services and supports to implement his or her life goals through the
Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) or Individual Program Plan (IPP)

• The statewide availability of a wide variety of high-quality community services to
meet the needs and goals indicated in the IFSPs and IPPs.
